Snap the receipt. Tap what you ordered. Send a link. Everyone pays their share.
Whether you brought the receipt or got a code, you're walking into the same shared split. Step 1 is for whoever sets it up. Steps 2–4 are for everyone at the table.
Take a photo. Items get pulled from the receipt in seconds, then add tax and tip.
Start a new splitEveryone taps the items they ordered. Multi-claim splits evenly.
Each person sees their exact share. Tax and tip already proportional.
Yes. ShareTheTab is a free, no-signup web app for splitting bills. Splitwise locks receipt scanning, charts, and currency conversion behind a Pro subscription, and it requires every person to make an account. ShareTheTab handles the most common task (figuring out who owes what after a meal) without any of that.
No. ShareTheTab runs in any browser, desktop or mobile, with nothing to download and nothing to sign up for.
I built this for my own friend group. Every time we'd go out, one person would foot the bill and then have to chase everyone down with math, screenshots, and Venmo requests. Every existing tool was either paid, required everyone to install an app, or was way more complex than splitting one dinner needs to be, so I made the simplest possible version.
Yes, it's genuinely free and there's no catch. I'm not expecting massive demand, so I'm happy to absorb the cost. If usage grows or I see abuse, I may need to revisit it, but the goal is to keep the core experience free.
Snap a photo and a multimodal LLM reads the receipt and pulls out each line item in a couple of seconds. You edit anything that's off, add tax and tip, and then share the code so everyone can claim what they ordered. The exact model swaps based on cost, usually one of the cheaper, faster vision models, but the flow stays the same.
If ShareTheTab saved you an awkward money conversation, you can buy me a coffee. Link coming soon. Sharing it with friends who'd find it useful also helps a ton.
